As an elder, Viv’s primary area of responsibility is Prayer and Care. She oversees various types of prayer, including healing, corporate and intercessory, as well as caring ministries including hospitality, benevolence and visitation. Viv is honored to serve as an elder. She is especially interested in lives being transformed as people choose new life in Christ.
Following many years of teaching in public schools in Cambridge, Viv was an elementary school principal in Newton Public Schools. During that time, she earned a doctorate in Educational Administration from Boston College. She then transitioned to Boston Public Schools, serving as a principal in Dorchester and in Roxbury. Viv views her work as an educator as an opportunity to work for social justice.
Viv deeply appreciates Covenant Church and has been a member of this special fellowship for more than 27 years. At Covenant Church Viv orchestrates a group of people who faithfully practice Centering Prayer and Lectio Divina and share their spiritual journeys. She leads a team who are teaching a sixty-five-year-old man how to read. She serves on the Altar Prayer Team, Welcome Team, Wednesday Morning Prayer Ministry and has been active in planning and leading Covenant Church’s Women’s Retreats.
Viv and her husband, Paul, have been married for more than four decades. They have been blessed with two loving daughters, Judy and Christine, and four precious grandsons, Carl, Ben, Luke and Will. Viv loves spending time with her extended family.
